Thanks so much for visiting my blog. Much of a bloggers satisfaction comes from seeing stats on how many people are reading our posts, leaving comments and when we receive messages from people all over the world.
I would really appreciate it if you could leave a message, letting me know where you are from – or if you are one of the hundreds of people that I meet whilst wetting a line.

From Klippies and Oom Sarel
Meneer Klippies ….. how are you my friend. It was an awesome day and it it you and Oom Sarel that I must thank for such a nice time. Thanks for the message and I look forward to seeing you next year.
Hopefully by then I will have a boat.
A big hello from Westville in Durban. I wish that I was still down the coast fishing at Orange Rocks. I am back at work and can’t thank you enough for the great time. See you next holidays. – Steven, Maureen and Kids.
Hey Steve, nice to hear from you. I am glad that you had fun. Remember the invitation stands….. anytime. Cheers !!
Hi, I’m from the free state and would like to know where the sardines are. We coming down to the south coast this weekend and hope we are lucky enough to spot them around Margate, do you think it is going to be possible? thanx
Howzit – my friend. These silver fish have no mind of their own, they are ruled by the ocean conditions and more specifically by water temperature. The water temp is not right at the moment for them to come close enough to see – however the North Easterly wind that is blowing for the next few days will cool the water down. We are all hoping and praying that they appear.
The fishing is great at the moment though, you will have a great time.
Ps. you could drive about 100kms south of Margate and maybe see them.
Hi Shane, I am from Thabazimbi, Limpopo. Thanks for a great website and all the fishing info. We are coming down to uvongo next week, hope the sardines are there and hope to catch a fishy or two. What are the best time of the day to go and catch fish and is the uvongo pier open for fishing and is it safe. I do not fish regularly but i do enjoy every moment i do have a chance, especially when going to the south coast. Thanx and keep well!
Hi Lyzette – Give me a call on 087 808 5321 and I can show you some spots. Cheers. Glad that you enjoy my blog.
Craig here from USA. Fantastic website, I really enjoy reading your blog posts.
Hi Shane. thanks so much for a great website. us jhb guys sit around our pc’s here at work and imagine that we are at the coast.
you are one lucky guy.
Hi Shane,
I have been following your blog for a couple of months now and find it very informative.
I work and live in PMB, but like to go fishing on the south coast whenever I get the opportunity. My favourite spot is in Umzumbe – Stiebel Rocks.
I have only been surf fishing for 20 months now but really enjoying it.
I would really like to meet up with you when I come that far south.
Best regards,
Leslie
Hi Leslie – you can give me a call anytime on 087 808 5321.
I dont always carry a phone, so leave a message or send me an email, if you are trying to get hold of me.
I am bad with phones, cos they always get soaked – so I just leave them at home.
I am glad that you enjoy my blog, I just can’t wait for the fishing to improve, so that I can post more photos of fish.
Have a great day – Shane

I use to live in Pinetown, but have now moved up to Jhb since November 2010, yes you guessed it im hating it. I used to fish every weekend, mainly at Orange Rocks, Winkels, Warners and Margate.
Im missing it like CRAZY !!!
Had a good year last year with some awesome Garrick and plenty Shad. Keep up teh good work Bud, would love to fish with you sometime, hopefully Im coming down soon for a holiday. As soon as I land Im coming straight to Orange Rocks !!! Hope to see you there.
Thanks.
Juz
Thanks Justin. I am always ready to fish, just pitch up and give me a call.
Even if you want to come down for a weekend, you can stay at my place.
I am opposite Pothole.
Cheers 4 now !!
Howzit Shane, I hope this mail finds you well and that you are fishing ‘hard’.
There’s a good chance I’ll be home again sometime in November. I’ll give you a shout and come stick my head in at your place… Maybe this time we’ll have better luck… lol.
Cheers bud.
All good my friend. Hows things with you ?
The life here is hard but I’m good Shane, well as good as I could be considering I can’t do any fishing. I’m looking forward to getting home, that’s for sure. I seriously miss the smell of the ocean and some salty spray on my face. Of course a nice fish on the fire wouldn’t be bad either not to mention a ‘wettie’ in my hand… lol.
Till then my friend, tight lines…
It will come bru. Then we will get stuck into some fish.
Hi shane
Really like ur website I cum here everyday 2 c if u uploaded any new pics or articles.I’m frm pmb also in2 surf fishing.I’ve fished in uvongo n margate pier b4 n only cawt shad.some of the locals ther aren’t very friendly.I’ve heard of orange rocks b4 but don’t really know where it is,hopefully u can show me wen I’m in margate asb?
Hi Shane, water looking really great this side of the TK coast. Looking to hunt some kob this coming weekend as Sunday should be quiet on the rocks, everyone with a New Year hangover or still partying!!!..Went for a throw on the Gonubie Point after work, water fairly blue and not too chilly and picked up a small Garrick on plug…sorry no pic…
Howzit, things have been quiet here, with dirty water from the rains messing things up. By Umzinkulu River (port Shepstone), the colour line was quite something.
Chocolate brown and then blue, blue, blue.
Great for boats, bad for rock and surf.
Morning Shane, water still fantastic this side.BUT…still no kobbies and of note , quite a large amount of Dolphin activity, as well as terns and gannets diving.Do you think there are sards off the back line. The dollys are not far out. I have thrown my arms off the last four days and nothing. Well thats fishing and of course our lovely town Gonubie was trashed over the new year…bunch of cretins!!!….Have a good 2012…
Howzit. We were also trashed, but the municipality cleaned it up sharp sharp.
My lightie goes back to school today, so maybe I can get some fishing time in.
Lakka bru. All the best !!
Ps, send me some photos ?
Howzit Shane, sorry for the “gap”..but back to the grindstone to earn some money to pay for all the beers and braais I had(LOL)…will send pics..must I email them or how do I upload?…
Cheers
