We had a lovely fay fishing with the family at Ramsgate. Whenever we go to Ramsgate, I usually only pack light tackle and target bronze bream and Brusher (Mussel Cracker), both of which are on their way to being endangered so it is strictly catch and release.
INFO: A Bronze Bream can live to 40 years old, so that bronzie of 45cms that you catch can very well be 20+ years old. Do you really want to kill it, just for a small chow ? Be wise, catch and release.
Ramsgate is a beautiful little town, which borders Margate on the Kwazulu Natal South Coast of South Africa.
Long stretches of pristine beaches, with lots of gullies, bays and rocky ledges to target reef fish. Pink prawn, Crayfish, Octopus Legs and sardine and chokka mix are all good baits. I almost exclusively use pink prawn when I fish reefs, I probably got to experiment more, but I have been chasing my big Bronze Bream for months.
Give me a shout if you are ever in the area. A good spot is to the right of the Ski Boat Base, next door to Bills Best.
