Sardines around the corner

Gannets being..... um... Gannets

The Silver Tide – The Greatest Shoal on Earth.

The latest info on the Sardines is that there is MASSIVE action in the Waterfall Bluff area of the Transkei.

I also heard from a buddy, who is part of a netting outfit, that the Sardines are two days away from the Margate, Uvongo, St Mikes, Shelly Beach area – where I live. I am absolutely amped up for this, I have been waiting the whole year – no make that two years as there was not a run last year as the water temperatures were too high.

So the excitement is mounting,  tackle is sorted, reels are services and spooled with plenty backing braid, rods are siliconed, traces are ready and I am super charged to feast on the best week of fishing on the planet.

Wow... what more needs to be said !!

So of you are not doing anything and you don’t live too far away, then make a plan to get down to Margate or the lower South Coast over the next few days. It is the greatest migration of animals on the planet and one of our most spectacular natural phenomenons.

Bring some buckets as there is plenty to go around – the atmosphere is going to be awesome.

www.ShanesFishing.co.za will bring you all the latest news on the 2010 Sardine Run.

    Hi Shane.

I stay in Gauteng but owns a house in Uvongo. Very keen fisherman and would love to come down to experience the action. Work is a bit full off s**t. Can I expect to get some of the action if I come down on Thursday for the weekend.Kind regards and theanks for your site.Johan

    Hi Johan.

The fishing has been excellent the last few weeks. The shad have been shot-for-shot and there have been lots of gamefish coming out as well.

Also see http://www.southcoastfishing.co.za for some more photos of the fish caught over the last few weeks.

The South Westerly wind that is howling at the moment is not too great for fishing, nor for sardines – as it pushes the warm current that flows from Mozambique close to the shore.

The good news is that the wind has not been as strong as expected and it is changing to North East around Midday today (Tuesday 13th July) which will clean up the conditions a bit.

All I can say is this…. will the sardines make an appearance….. it’s a coin toss for an answer.

We did wee a few small pockets come past on Sunday and there is plenty Redeye in the water.

I am going away on Friday till Sunday for Sealine Social Fishing Weekend, so I am praying for good fishable conditions.

One thing I have learnt, is that when all else fails – get some pink prawn, pull out the light tackle and hit the gullies.

As I said Johan, its a coin toss.

@admin: I must say your site is the first I’ve come across today that doesn’t have spelling errors every other sentence. Thank you for taking the time to construct something that doesn’t look like a 6th grader put together. I apologize, just had to vent.

All Hail to a strict Boys School English Teacher, Whipping my A$$ ten times a day.

    Oh and Spell Check…..

    Keep well, thanks for visiting.
